The Chasen is fairly delicate and requires some care to keep it in shape.
Wetting the tips of the bristles before use makes them more flexible and prevents possible breakage
Dry ambient conditions can lead to cracks developing in the handle. This will not affect the performance of the whisk though. Periodic moistening of the entire Chasen can prevent some cracking.
Tips for whisking:
When you whisk matcha, slowly stir the chasen around the chawan making sure to touch the bottom of the matcha bowl in order to mix the matcha in the water completely. Once mixed, whisk rapidly at the surface to draw air in and create to creamy froth. Enjoy!
