This year's Rohini Clonal Queen is an superb batch producing a mellow golden liquor with a creamy texture and balancing tannins to round it out. Floral and fruit notes are finely framed by the grounding aromas of spice and bark. Lowering the infusion to 85℃ enhanced the buttery mouthfeel while reducing the tannic astringency.
Rohini Tea Estate experienced something of a renaissance in 2000 after sitting idle for close to 40 years. Of the original 1300 hectares, only 38 are still in production with another 108 hectares of young plants awaiting their first harvest once mature enough. The gardens are split between four divisions with Tukuriya at 1350m containing the original AV2 China clone tea bushes dating back 100 years.
