Sencha Nakai № 1
Nakai's premier sencha is picked in late April or early May depending on the arrival of spring when the year's new growth is at it's most vibrant. Moderate steaming results in long, deep green needles with little fragmentation and a flavour dominated by low notes of steamed greens, such as brassicas and spinach, cooked fresh beans and mushroom. A light, grassy sweetness and a hint of bitterness help shape a perfectly balanced sencha.
Grown and produced by the Nakai family, the current being the eighth generation to carry on the craft and tradition of solid, high quality organic tea. About 40 years ago, the family returned to a harmonious way of farming by abandoning chemical fertilizers and pesticides and instead, let nature do what it has always done...take care of itself.
